  • National Child Development Associate (CDA) or AS in early childhood or AA with 18 ECE credit hours (BA or higher preferred); teachers without an AS/AA must enroll in school each semester until completed
    • Florida Staff Credential or willing to obtain within 90-days of employment
    • Required DCF Childcare Training Credential
    • Experience teaching toddler and or preschool-age children (ages 1–5), preferred
    • Certificate of completion for Teaching Strategies GOLD® Introduction and Objectives for Development and Learning or willing to obtain within 6 months of employment
    • Bilingual English/Creole or English/Spanish preferred

    Work Environment
    • Be able to lift 25-30 lbs.
    • Be able to walk, squat/kneel/bend, sit on floor, see, hear, speak with children to ensure children’s health and safety
    • Must be able to frequently walk, grasp, push, kneel and stand while setting up and taking down events.
    • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time while operating a computer
    • Frequently required to speak and listen while communicating
    • Must be able to endure repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement while operating office equipment
    • Requires clarity of vision at close distances while operating a computer
    • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function

    • Must pass fingerprinting and background check
    • Initial drug screening; random checking

Employment Details

The Early Childhood Educator is responsible for providing a high quality learning environment to children and families enrolled. This position implements an age-appropriate differentiated curriculum, develops and executes lesson plans, establishes and maintains supportive relationships with children and parents, maintains appropriate environments for young children, evaluates children’s developmental growth, and assesses educational outcomes of the children. Delivery of childcare must model best practices as outlined by agency policies, as well as licensing, monitoring, funding, and contract agencies.
